MMPI-2 INTERPRETIVE REPORT
PREPARED FOR: IMH-Network, Ltd.
-- CONFIGURAL VALIDITY SCALE INTERPRETATION --
This validity scale configuration is usually obtained by
individuals who are trying to present themselves in an extremely
positive manner. They appear to be attempting to avoid or deny
unacceptable feelings, impulses, and problems. They need to be
viewed by others as being exemplary. They are often simplistic
and psychologically naive, and they tend to view the world in
extremes. This pattern most frequently occurs in defensive
normals and patients with Somatoform or Dissociative Disorders.
Pronounced use of denial and repression, poor insight, and
deliberate defensiveness are suggested.
This configural interpretation should be the primary source
of interpretive hypotheses for the L, F, and K validity scales.
Individual validity scale hypotheses, however, are also presented
in the following section.
-- VALIDITY SCALES --
? (raw) = 0
Scores in this range reflect a relatively small number of
unanswered items, which in and of itself should not have an
impact on the validity of the profile.
L T = 62
L scores in this range are suggestive of individuals who
may be defensive, lack insight, and be slightly more conforming
and moralistic than usual. They may have a tendency to repress
or deny problems and unfavorable traits.
F T = 37
F scores in this range may indicate that the individual is
either denying serious psychopathology by underreporting actual
problems or is actually relatively free from stress.
K T = 63
Scores in this range are typically obtained by individuals
who tend to be defensive and unwilling to acknowledge
psychological problems and distress. They are prone to minimize
and disregard problems with themselves and their lives.
Self-insight and self-understanding are usually lacking. They
are very concerned about how they are perceived by others and
typically view emotional problems as weaknesses.
_______________________________________________________________________________
MMPI-2 INTERPRETIVE REPORT
PREPARED FOR: IMH-Network, Ltd.
-- TEST-TAKING SCALES/INDICES --
Fb = 46
Fb scores in this range suggest that the individual
responded in a valid manner to items toward the end of the test.
VRIN = 58
VRIN scores in this range suggest that the individual
responded in a consistent manner to test items.
TRIN = 58F
TRIN scores in this range suggest that the individual
responded in a consistent manner to test items.
Sumcrt = 17
An index of accuracy based on the Lachar-Wrobel critical
items indicates that the respondent is tending to underreport
psychopathology -- this would be expected in normal individuals
and job applicants. Psychiatric patients with scores in this
range are trying to report that they are better adjusted than is
actually the case. Their underreporting of psychopathology may
reflect defensiveness, repression and denial, and/or lack of
insight into their psychological functioning. Patients with
indices in this range may be poor candidates for any form of
psychological intervention since they believe or are trying to
create the impression that they have few, if any, problems.
-- CONFIGURAL CLINICAL SCALE INTERPRETATION --
1-3/3-1 (2) Codetype
Clinical Presentation:
These individuals report a wide variety of physical
symptoms. They describe themselves as feeling tired a good deal
of the time. These individuals often are viewed as attempting to
avoid responsibility and/or being manipulative through the
expression of their physical symptoms, although they do not
acknowledge overtly using their physical symptoms in such a
manner. They are resistant to psychological interpretations of
their symptoms and problems, and do not report any psychological
problems.
These individuals are very conventional and conforming to
societal standards, and unlikely to get into trouble because of
_______________________________________________________________________________
MMPI-2 INTERPRETIVE REPORT
PREPARED FOR: IMH-Network, Ltd.
their behavior. They value being seen as logical and without
fault. They invest little effort in understanding the
psychological reactions of others.
Others tend to realize their angry and resentful attitudes;
however, they most often express their anger in passive and
indirect ways. Their emotional responses are likely to be
overcontrolled and expressed indirectly, if at all. The
interpersonal relationships of these individuals are usually
shallow and seen as being manipulative with a lack of genuine
interest in others.
Treatment:
The prognosis is generally poor, since these individuals
have little insight, resist psychological interpretations, and
demand concrete answers to their problems. Medical explanations
for their problems often produce short-term change in the
positive direction. There is some potential for abuse of
prescribed medications.
Possible Diagnoses:
Axis I - Rule Out Somatoform Disorders
Rule Out Adjustment Disorder
Rule Out Dysthymia
Axis II - Rule Out Compulsive Personality Disorder
Rule Out Passive Aggressive Personality Disorder
-- CLINICAL SCALES --
Hs (1) T = 80
Scores in this range are frequently obtained by individuals
who are expressing excessive concern about the functioning of
their bodies and are endorsing multiple vague somatic complaints.
These individuals are typically self-centered, dissatisfied,
demanding of attention, complaining, and generally negative and
pessimistic. They may use their somatic complaints to control
and manipulate others. The prognosis for either psychological or
medical intervention is guarded. Conservative medical treatment
is usually recommended. These individuals are highly skilled in
frustrating and sabotaging the help of others and will often
"shop" for physicians and/or therapists. Exceptions are
individuals with multiple bonafide physical disorders of both
chronic and acute nature.
_______________________________________________________________________________
MMPI-2 INTERPRETIVE REPORT
PREPARED FOR: IMH-Network, Ltd.
D (2) T = 59
Scores in this range are typically obtained by individuals
who are not satisfied with their current life situation or with
themselves. Individuals obtaining scores in this range may not
be aware of the degree to which they feel dissatisfied or may
have learned to adjust to a long term dissatisfaction.
Hy (3) T = 73
Scores in this range are frequently obtained by individuals
who develop physical complaints in response to stress and may use
their complaints to avoid responsibility. These individuals are
often naive, immature, self-centered, and deny any psychological
problems. They lack insight concerning the causes of their
symptoms and their own motives and feelings. They are frequently
very demanding of affection and support, and may use indirect and
manipulative means to get attention and affection. Their social
relationships are often superficial and immature. They are
resistant to psychological interpretations and treatment, and any
form of psychological intervention will be difficult. These
individuals often look for simplistic, concrete solutions to
their problems -- solutions that do not require self-examination.
Individuals who obtain elevated scores on this scale are unlikely
to be seen as psychotic.
Pd (4) T = 47
Scores in this range are considered to be within normal
limits.
Mf (5) T = 67
Scores in this range are generally obtained by females who
report that they are rejecting the traditional female role and
are likely to be more competitive, aggressive, and assertive.
They may see themselves as being unique and not typically
feminine.
Pa (6) T = 42
These individuals may be trusting and insensitive to and
unaware of the motives of other people.
Pt (7) T = 49
Scores in this range are considered to be within normal
limits.

Sc (8) T = 55
Scores in this range are considered to be within normal
limits.
Ma (9) T = 43
Scores in this range suggest a low energy and activity
level. This may reflect fatigue or depression, especially if the
scores are extremely low. Scores near a T-score of 45 are
typical for older individuals. Individuals who obtain scores in
this range are often described as lethargic, listless and
apathetic. In addition, some individuals scoring in this range
are seen as conventional, practical, responsible, and sensitive.
Si (0) T = 45
Scores in this range are considered to be within normal
limits.
-- ADDITIONAL SCALES --

CONTENT SCALES
Since the content of the items on these scales are
face-valid, it is important that scales/indices of overreporting
and underreporting of psychopathology be evaluated carefully when
interpreting these scales. Also, the deviant response for most
of these items is true, so any patient who tends to respond
"true" to items regardless of their content will elevate these
scales. There are no data at this time for interpretation of low
scores on these scales other than the absence of the qualities
seen in high scorers.
